Mother-of-pearl, with its ethereal luster and captivating hues, forms the heart and soul of Syrian Marquetry. Initially sourced from the Euphrates River in the municipality of Deir El Zor, mother-of-pearl lent a matte white sheen to the inlays. However, the ever-growing demand for this magnificent material led to the import of seawater mother-of-pearl from far-off lands like the Philippines and China. These exquisite imports boast various colors, from verdant greens to captivating blacks, adding an unforgettable radiance to each piece
